Kringles are butter-layered Danish pastries with a rich history. In fact the Kringle symbol means “home of the baker”.

They are considered a must have pastry presented at events to celebrate life. For most Danes, no birthday, anniversary or other special occasion is complete without this delicious, traditional Danish offering. It is the ancient symbol of the bakers’ guild in Denmark, and for centuries an icon or sign in the shape of a Kringle has hung above the door of true Danish bakeries.

Long ago if a crown was on top of the sign, it meant that the Danish king himself had visited and approved of the bakery and its Kringles. A very prestigious award to win.
