Named after the famous French actress of the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, Sarah Bernhardt, who visited Copenhagen in 1883. Her fame reached from Europe to Hollywood. She inspired a Danish Chef to name a dessert after her since she loved chocolate so much!
Andersen’s family in the 60’s handcrafted the Sarah Bernhardt in Copenhagen Konditori as well. The Queen’s butler would pick them up for her in a Bentley parked outside.
