Tradition
Our beloved Andersen’s was founded by Alfred Andersen, a Master Chef, Konditor (Baker) and Artist from Denmark. Alfred and Birte (an architect by trade) opened their first bakery on Milpas Street in Santa Barbara in 1976 and moved in 1978 to the beautiful La Arcada on State Street. Original oil paintings grace the walls of the Bakery and Restaurant painted by Alfred, who had the biggest love for people and food. His words were “ Do things right, or don’t do them at all”. Today Alfred’s wife and daughter continue the culinary traditions, mastering them to a new level.
Our Vision
We believe that sharing good food and wine should be sensorial and comforting, evoking happy delicious memories. All of this can be summed up in the Danish word (Hygge) or (Comfort) in English. The Andersen’s has this engraved in our souls and we want to share our heritage with you. With so much passion for quality, you can just taste the love.
Our new addition, the LiseLotte Room and our upstairs Party Lofts can accommodate large events and parties. With a delectable dinner menu and an exquisite wine selection, it is the perfect location for Wedding Rehearsals, celebrating Birthdays, “High Tea” parties, Corporate Events and more!
We now have more outdoor seating (located on the sunny side of State Street) and a new deck!. You can join us for amazing Breakfast, Lunch, Early Dinner, Wines, Champagne & Dessert!
